Triggering DJ Gallery is proud to present Enantiodromia –an ambitious collectionof large-scale graphite drawings by California-based artist Thackeray Olsen. Olsen, who is known for his meticulous detailing and hyper-focused ability to harness the micronuances of pencil drawings, created a body of work inspired bythe Jungian concept of Enantiodromia, which can be defined as “the emergence ofthe unconscious opposite in the course of time.”
As a preface to the works the artist has written the following:
“The empty expanse that lies beyond the manycrumbling thresholds exist paradoxically as a void and amirror: containing and reflecting the enantiodromiabetween a vicious cycle of stagnating resistance andmoment of reconciliation and submission.“

Thackeray Olsen (b. 1991USA) split his time in undergraduate school betweenthe San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI) where he studied painting and CalArts where he earned his BFA. By embracing the tension and uncertainty during moments of art-making, Olsen’s work aims to search for meaning by questioning and unifying paradoxical concepts and objects of interest. [At the time of this publication] The artist currently lives and works in Sonoma, California.
