Triggering DJ (Driving Prius Towards Me) Gallery is pleased to present “Diplopia” a solo exhibition by Robert Falco – also including a sculpture by Bobby Singer – with an opening reception on Tuesday,July 12 from 6–9 pm featuring a performance by Justin Teng Disaster Program.
The exhibition’s title is taken from a word for the medical conditionfor double vision, referring to both the content of the exhibition and the potential for a dialogue betweenthe images on view. Reminiscent of the moiré effect, Falco’s layered images pop and fade through fragments of rising paint like a luminous mirage. A spectrum of emotions is simultaneously evoked by the artist’s carefully chosen graphics as multiple discernable planes intumesce intertwined; floating and disappearing along the surface of the paintings like ghosts. Falco’s uniquely developed layering technique results in tantalizing visual phenomena which torque between the fore and aft of the visible field – effectively punking the two-dimensional optical continuum piece by piece.
